Weekend Walks are multi-block events that promote the use of streets as public space, highlighting both local businesses and New York City’s unique neighborhoods. They create wonderful opportunities for New Yorkers to gather and view their neighborhoods in a new light.
The weekend walk will take place on June 1st from 12PM-6PM on Jamaica Ave between 85th and 89th Street.
Weekend Walks are a partnership with the Department of Transportation (DOT) and local community groups. These community-based partners have hosted fifty-two Weekend Walks in all five boroughs from May through October. Each Weekend Walk is organized and hosted by a local partner and features a number of activities including music, arts and crafts, classes and youth programming. Weekend Walks highlight local cultural institutions, non-profits, and community resources. The events promote healthy, safe recreation as well as local businesses, and create high-quality public space where community members can coalesce.
We will be having two live bands performing at each end of the walk.
We have several rides for kids of all ages from bouncy castles, obstacle courses, a pirate ship and an 18 foot slide--
And more...!
